Family on the Move
I have recently made the trip from Alaska to South Carolina. The drive was long, the road was treacherous and the trip was memorable. It was one thing I would most likely never do again but an experience I will never forget. The Alcan highway is one terrible drive. I kept praying just to get off of it alive. The narrow passage through the Canadian Rockies had me terrified one minute and ecstatic the next. The views were spectacular ,but the road and conditions not so much. Up and down mountains with no rails on the cliff sides and 18 wheelers coming at you.....not so fun. Not to mention it was the dead of winter and the roads were iced over. On the positive side, My family was able to see buffalo, wolves, moose, elk, and other various wildlife. My daughter was excited to see the snow covered buffalo traveling next to the truck, so close I could possibly reach out and touch it. We also had the chance to see the lone Wolf...or as she calls it Taka...which is our puppy. I Had fun and experienced allot of new things. We finally made it to our home state in Mississippi about seven days from leaving Alaska. We visited our families that we have not seen in 3 years and our children finally got to see their grandparents. We had a blast and have now made it to our duty station here in South Carolina. We miss everyone in Alaska, they have each found a special place in our family. Thank you to everyone that has been a part of our lives we love you all.

Wow! So I'm incredibly far behind in reading blogs and even posting to my own. I'm so glad you all made it safely to SC! Sounds like the Alcan is quite an experience! I'm hoping to be more diligent in keeping up with the blogs (both your and my own) so keep the updates coming! Hope you're all doing well!
