THE FORGOTTEN
I read a comment on our local paper's website a few days ago and was infuriated what was being said. The people in this blog spot were saying that the soldiers did not give us freedom. Many blogger went on to say how our soldiers are murderers and have no right to be honored. It has taken a few days for me to calm down enough to write about my feeling on this subject. This is one that hits home for me. Most of you know who i am and who my husband is...for those who don't here is my story short and simple. I am a veteran, i served in the Air Force. My husband is a Infantry Soldier in the Army. My husband and I both come from a long line of military veterans. My ends somewhere in Ireland with the IRA. His ends somewhere in Germany with the Nazis. First and far most i am sorry for all those lost souls who think that freedom is free and comes with no price. Obviously you have not spent much time in history class. I am remembering learning about wars against Germany when a greedy man threatened to take over the world...Was that not fighting for our freedom? Or maybe when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor... I am guessing that was an accident and Americans took it to heart...right? Or yet maybe we have forgotten just a few short years ago when the towers were attacked? Our Soldiers go and fight so that the wars don't end up on our foot step. Think about what might have been.... Would we all be speaking German, Japanese, or Arabic? The soldier who have died to make sure their families would be safe. To make sure we would still be Americans.....Not Germans, Japanese, Or Middle Easterners. I believe that is them fighting for our Freedoms....what little we do have. As for our soldiers being called Murderers.....I am trying to put it the nicest way i can....ALL WHO THINK THAT- GO AHEAD AND GET OUT OF OUR COUNTRY. Obviously your not a true American. Our guys learn in basic... kill or be killed. They are being blown up, shot at and seeing their friends dieing. Would you not shot someone who is shooting at you? You are sooooo concerned about what our troops are doing, yet you have no idea the things that are happening in our own country. There are true murderers getting off because they paid someone off....do you not care that these people are walking the streets. But you have Negative comments against our soldiers? I am thankful for every soldier that puts his/her life on the line everyday so that I can walk down the street and not be stoned because i looked the wrong direction. Or my hand be cut off because my husband did not like the way i touched him. If you have not learned about all the countries that have threatened us and have attacked us please go read about them and see what they put their people through. how they treat each other and then decide what country you want to be in. One thing though do not blame our soldiers for what they do, they have orders and must follow these orders or be put in a military jail for a long time...and believe me, as someone who use to run a military jail, this is 20 times worst than civilian penitentiaries. Do not let our soldiers, past and present, be FORGOTTEN.

I think we as a nation have gotten so selfish and self-absorbed to the realities of the true cost of war. We are spoiled and have it way too easy to simply send others to do the dirty work of protecting our country while we here go about our daily routines with entertaining ourselves to death and living frivolously on credit cards while the rest of the world and our soldiers (and their families) understand sacrifice. Our media is too concerned about playing politics and the populace in general doesn't want to be weighed down with war and sacrifice and so they continue on in ignorance so they don't have to feel guilty. I'm sorry that there are so many out there that abuse our freedom of speech to say such ignorant and hurtful things about those who truly are defending our nation and our freedoms and ensuring a secure country for future generations. Keep up the good work -- keep the words coming my friend!
